About GUÉPART

A bold, compassionate therapeutic project supporting recovery from addiction

“Gué” evokes guérison (healing),
“Part” echoes partir (to leave), partager (to share), départ (a new departure).

Gué-Part also recalls guépard (cheetah), an animal associated with health, strength and vitality.

Discovery and resilience in facing the challenges of addiction

Why “Guépart”?

A symbol of taking back control and rediscovering dignity.
GUÉPART is an invitation to leave old patterns behind and begin a new chapter, away from the destructive routines of addiction.

Our mission

GUÉPART is a non-profit association governed by France’s 1901 Associations Act and recognised as serving the public interest. Its mission is to:

  • Support people experiencing addiction to alcohol, drugs or medication

  • Through an innovative therapeutic programme, built around a supported therapeutic journey away from daily routines

  • While actively involving families and carers through support groups, addiction education days and evenings to share experiences from the programme

  • And building strong partnerships with healthcare organisations, social services and local institutions

We complement medical care with a compassionate form of support focused on emotions and reconnecting with oneself.

We offer structured, innovative and compassionate support through complete therapeutic programmes lasting 4 to 5 months: preparation, a supported journey away from daily routines and enhanced follow-up.

These programmes aim to help participants reconnect with themselves, understand and accept their emotions, and build lasting personal balance and participation in everyday and community life.
Addiction medicine specialists, psychologists, specialist support workers and healthcare professionals guide each stage, providing personalised support within a clinical framework.

GUÉPART complements conventional treatment for physical dependence by addressing psychological dependence, which can also be difficult to overcome. Our approach gives participants an additional resource as they work towards lasting recovery.

Our aim: support through complete therapeutic programmes

GUÉPART also supports families and carers.
We believe recovery is a shared process. Support groups, psychoeducation days and evenings sharing experiences from the programme help loved ones play an active role.
They learn to understand addiction, respond appropriately and restore their own balance, often put under considerable strain.

Support for families and carers

For people already working towards recovery, GUÉPART offers more than a journey: an immersive experience with the potential to bring change.
Through meaningful cultural immersion and an innovative therapeutic approach, we aim to create a starting point for a new chapter, for participants and their families alike.

An immersive experience that opens up new possibilities

Legal framework and registration

We also hold:

  • a financial guarantee provided by FMS-UNAT (Fonds de Mutualisation du Tourisme Solidaire),

These arrangements support reliable organisation, protection for participants, and the long-term continuity of GUÉPART’s innovative therapeutic programme.

The founder

Etienne Steiger

President of GUÉPART Film and documentary production and location management

Etienne STEIGER was born on 21 April 1982 in New York to a Swiss father and a French mother. A French, Swiss and American national, he grew up with cultural diversity and travel, developing a strong curiosity and openness to the wider world.

He has worked in film and television for more than twenty-two years, in production and location management for films and documentaries, specialising in international shoots often carried out in extreme conditions. He has contributed to many prestigious projects, including Jacques Perrin’s film “OCÉANS”, a turning point in both his personal and professional life. This project took him across five continents, from the Arctic to Antarctica, via Africa, Latin America, Oceania and Asia, in search of exceptional images.

Since then, he has brought his expertise to numerous wildlife documentaries, feature films and adventure programmes such as “Rendez-vous en Terre Inconnue” (France 2). Through this experience, he has developed extensive expertise in international logistics and a wide network of local contacts across many countries.

This career, built around human connections and discovering other places, is now one of the foundations of GUÉPART, where he puts his skills to work for a compassionate therapeutic and social purpose.

As a former patient in recovery, Etienne Steiger also knows addiction from personal experience.

“I have experienced addiction. And I came to understand that recovery meant creating the conditions for a turning point. This project is my new beginning… put to work to help others find theirs.”

Our approach

Our vision

GUÉPART’s complete therapeutic programme has 3 stages:

  • preparatory workshops,

  • a supported therapeutic journey abroad,

  • follow-up support.

Each stage is guided by professionals in addiction care, art therapy, psychology, mindfulness and related fields.

The programme is evaluated through a rigorous clinical study.

The first programme cycle, completed in September 2026, was delivered with the addiction service at Albert-Chenevier Hospital in Créteil (AP-HP).

Our ambitions are clear:

  • Develop new partnerships in Île-de-France

  • Then expand nationally through a network of partners

  • Share our approach with other healthcare teams

combining immersion with clinical support

expanding across France

The journey goes beyond tourism. It is an opportunity to engage with emotions, reflect deeply and reconnect with others.

The first GUÉPART programme cycle was delivered with the addiction service at Albert-Chenevier Hospital in Créteil, through the partnership with AP-HP.
Completed in September 2026, it paves the way for new cycles with other partner organisations.

The aim

To share this model with other hospital addiction services and CSAPA (Centres de Soins, d’Accompagnement et de Prévention en Addictologie — addiction treatment, support and prevention centres), first in Île-de-France and then throughout France.
