Understand addiction to respond more effectively and offer support

Follow us on social media

The psychoeducation days, organised with the addiction service at Albert-Chenevier Hospital (AP-HP) in Créteil, aim to help people affected by addiction, along with their family and friends, better understand the mechanisms underlying dependence.

These days are free, available from the age of 18, and open to anyone affected by addiction, whether directly or through supporting a loved one who is struggling.

These opportunities to share and understand are especially useful for:

  • Patients receiving addiction care

  • Families and carers who want to better support their loved one

  • Health and social care professionals or anyone affected

No medical knowledge is required: the content is designed to be clear, accessible and interactive.

Who are these days for?

“Understanding addiction is itself an act of care.”

Objectives of these days

  • Understand the mechanisms of addiction

  • Identify the role of emotions, thoughts and habits in addiction

  • Better understand cognitive difficulties associated with addiction

  • Explore the impact on everyday life and strategies for offering support

  • Encourage better dialogue between patients, family and friends, and healthcare professionals
